ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF CHILD SAFETY

The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is a social and human services agency whose mission is to successfully partner with families caregivers and the community to strengthen families ensure safety and achieve permanency for all Arizonas children through prevention services and support.

JOB SUMMARY:

Make a difference in the lives of children and families in your community. Under the supervision of the Regional Program Administrator this position performs duties associated with community resource coordination and outreach. This position assists with raising public awareness of the departments mission and issues related to child welfare to enlist community organizations churches educational institutions businesses and individuals to support the Department of Child Safety (DCS) through donations and volunteer addition this position is primarily responsible for helping cultivate ongoing community support for the region by helping the department build a network and database of community contacts resources and supportive volunteers to assist in the health safety and well-being of children and families.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Build strong connections with community groups schools businesses and faith-based organizations to expand resources that support children and families.
  • Represent DCS at community events meetings and trainings to raise awareness of child welfare issues and inspire public involvement.
  • Coordinate volunteer efforts donation drives and regional events that uplift children in care and support staff morale.
  • Serve as a key liaison between DCS local partners and service providers to ensure families have access to vital resources.
  • Collaborate with leadership and staff across the region to address emerging social issues share updates and strengthen community support networks.
  • Maintain and grow a database of community contacts resources and volunteers to continually enhance the regions ability to serve children and families.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Community outreach networking and event coordination
  • Arizona child welfare policies reporting requirements and CHILDS/SACWIS systems
  • Data collection analysis and reporting techniques
  • Effective written and verbal communication including report writing
  • Microsoft Office and related child welfare software systems
  • Basic management principles and organizational practices

Skills in:

  • Building strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Gathering analyzing and interpreting data to identify needs trends and solutions
  • Using CHILDS and related systems to resolve issues and support processes
  • Designing and delivering effective one-on-one and group training
  • Public speaking and presenting information with clarity and confidence
  • Writing clear reports summaries and recommendations
  • Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing

Ability to:

  • Build and maintain networks of community contacts resources and volunteers
  • Engage effectively with diverse populations and community partners
  • Analyze and evaluate data for accuracy identify trends and provide training as needed
  • Manage multiple projects meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities or technologies
  • Deliver excellent customer service and clear written communication
  • Work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment
  • Contribute to policy and process improvements to strengthen child welfare services
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Masters or bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
OR
Three (3) years of combined DCS Specialist Trainee / DCS Specialist experience
OR
Three (3) years of combined DCS Specialist Trainee / OCWI Investigator experience.

Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from the Central Registry.

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business and the following requirements apply:Drivers License Requirements.
