Position Description
Responsible for the preparation of complex commercial loan documentation ensuring loans are documented as approved and in compliance with all applicable bank policies and Federal and State banking laws and regulations.
Position Accountabilities
- Assists Manager Commercial Loan Documentation in training the Commercial Loan Documentation team.
- Reviews/critiques documents prepared by Commercial Loan Documentation team members.
- Documents complex commercial & commercial real estate secured loan transactions.
- Reviews loan requests to ensure proper approval.
- Reviews organizational documents to verify borrower/guarantors existence and authority.
- Reviews title reports to ensure that the chain of title is satisfactory and does not contain exceptions that are unacceptable to the bank and issues closing instructions to title companies.
- Reviews UCC searches and other supporting documentation to confirm collateral ownership and lien position.
- Verifies customer information against tax returns the Banks core system and records management system.
- Coordinates with lending teams to resolve any issue and/or discrepancies.
- Assists lending teams and title companies in clearing documentation exceptions.
- Reviews approval to determine the products to use in documentation software system and the terms to be used for the transaction.
- Processes documents using the documentation software system.
- Reviews documents prior to closing to ensure accuracy.
- Ensures loans are in compliance with the Banks policies and procedures and all applicable banking rules and regulations.
- Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Attends seminars and meetings as appropriate.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and Bank goals.
- Complies with all applicable Bank policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationship
Position reports to the Manager Commercial Loan Documentation.
Position Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent college degree preferred.
- 5 years in commercial banking with an emphasis in the loan and credit administration departments.
- Minimum 3 years of paralegal experience. Comparable commercial loan documentation experience may be considered.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of the various laws and regulations governing the banking industry particularly in the commercial lending area.
- Proficiency in LaserPro.
- Working knowledge of a bank core processing system preferred. FIS Horizon is a plus.
- Working knowledge of records management systems. FCM Image Center nCino CLOS is a plus.
- Proficient in reviewing title commitments and policies.
- Ability to handle large volume of loans.
- Ability to review and analyze Commercial Real Estate legal documents.
- Excellent oral and written communication when interacting with internal and external clients.
- Excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with internal and external clients.
- Ability to work within strict deadlines and meet performance targets while maintaining accuracy.
- Working knowledge of credit agreement covenants loan documentation in multiple states Article 9 UCC Regulations B C Z RESPA Fair Credit Reporting Act and other federal and state regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to adjust priorities to changing circumstances and maintain quality in fast paced atmosphere.
- PC proficient including Microsoft Office.
Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education work experience certifications etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
