City of Greeley: Work Live and Play in Greeley: Summary:
The City of Greeley is seeking an experienced and dedicated Plant Operator A - D to join our team at the Boyd Water Treatment Plant a 38 MGD direct filtration plant located in Loveland Colorado. As a Plant Operator you will play a vital role in the operation maintenance and optimization of the plant contributing to Greeleys leadership in the northern Colorado water community.
In this role you will report directly to the Lead Plant Operator and collaborate with a team of committed professionals working to ensure the highest standards of service and water quality. The Boyd Water Treatment Plant operates seasonally typically from April through October. Operators will work a rotating schedule of 12-hour 10-hour or 8-hour shifts during the active season (6 months) with a one-month rotation. During the offseason (the remaining 6 months) the regular work hours will be from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
During the offseason staff primarily focus on maintenance projects and preventative maintenance across the plant and the water system. Additionally operators may be called upon to assist at Bellvue WTP with transmission systems reservoirs or the High Mountain Reservoirs as needed.

Experience Knowledge Skills:
Minimum Requirements
All Levels:
Current valid unrestricted Colorado drivers license with an acceptable driving record (MVR and background check required).
High school diploma or equivalent (in order to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado).
A Operator:
Two (2) years of experience in water treatment.
Current Class A Water Treatment Operator certification valid in Colorado.
Two (2) plus years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants.
B Operator:
Current Class B Water Treatment Operator certification valid in Colorado and must obtain Class A Water Treatment Operator certification valid in Colorado within two (2) years of hire.
One and a half (1 ) to Two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants.
C Operator:
Current Class C Water Treatment Operator certification valid in Colorado and must obtain Class B Water Treatment Operator certification valid in Colorado within (2) years of hire.
One (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants.
D Operator:
Current Class D Water Treatment Operator Colorado certification valid in Colorado or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
A combination of education experience licensure or certification thatwill result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job may be considered for placement level by the hiring authority.
Preferred
Five (5) years of experience working at a Water Treatment Plant.
Five (5) years maintenance and troubleshooting experience in water treatment and instrumentation process equipment.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities.
Ability to perform algebraic calculations of chemical feed rates and manually adjust the process pumps to output the feed rates.
Computer skills includingthe ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook etc.) PC-based methods SCADA andthe ability to learn and experiment with new software and systems.
Interpersonal skills including the ability to facilitate interaction communication and teamwork between others.
Oral written and listening communication skills including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages information concepts and details accurately and clearly.
Organizational skills including the ability to set and meet goals and deadlines manageappointments create schedules coordinate and facilitate meetings and make decisions.

Essential Functions:
Reads and interprets gauges and meters used in regulating operations of plant equipment.
Monitors objects and data for compliance and operating standards.
Performs daily record keeping water quality sampling and routine laboratory analysis.
Collects and analyzes water samples; records and maintains data.
Performs other functions such as janitorial and mechanical maintenance.
Attends safety sessions and stays informed on all safety and emergency procedures.
Uses hand and power tools properly and safely to maintain the facility and grounds.
Interprets water quality/quantity data and makes appropriate adjustments or recommendations.
Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Travel: May be required to travel to other Treatment Plants: Bellvue WTP Transmissions Reservoirs or High Mountain Reservoirs as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Plant Operator A may serve as a lead operator and supervise or direct daily tasks of other operators in the absence of a Lead Operator or Supervisor.
Work Environment:
Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals & gases including gaseous chlorine.
Work in a variety of weather conditions.
Exposure to high noise levels fumes or particles risk of electrical shock.
Physical Requirements:
Sufficient communication skills to convey information to Supervisor the public or other employees.
The ability to remain in a standing/walking position for long periods of time.
The ability to move items weighing up to 75 pounds and make repetitive motions.
Ability to work at heights greater than 10 feet.
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate tools vehicles and equipment.
Flexibility to bend twist and reach objects at all body levels including overhead.
Possible confined space entry.
Ability to dawn and wear supplied air systems for extended periods of time.
