You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailAs a part of the Job Family Learning (JFL) team the Senior Manager of Tech College plays a critical leadership role in advancing technical learning and development in the Tech Organization at Capital One. This role is responsible for driving the strategy delivery and culture of Tech Collegean internal education platform designed to continuously upskill and reskill software engineers architects and other technical talent across the enterprise. The Senior Manager of Tech College leads cross-functional collaboration with Tech and HR partners oversees a high-performing learning team and brings a product mindset to educationensuring experiences are scalable learner-centered and aligned with Capital Ones Tech transformation imperatives.
We are looking for someone who can bridge the gap between engineering and learning teamssomeone who can speak software understands the rhythms of the software development lifecycle and can translate complex technical needs into scalable learner-centered experiences. The ideal candidate for this role is
Fluent in Tech: Understands the needs of engineers and has experience supporting technical audiences
Bilingual in Learning Engineering: Skilled at translating across disciplines and connecting tech execution to learning strategy
Strategic Operator: Tracks emerging technologies (i.e. generative AI) and anticipates future learning needs; thinks holistically; solves problems systemically; balances long-term vision with operational excellence and delivery rigor; brings structure to ambiguity and manages multiple priorities effectively
Product-minded: Applies iteration experimentation and learner feedback to improve solutions

This is a visible role with the ability to impact change across the company and drive meaningful solutions by shaping how technical learning is built and delivered at Capital One. To do this you will
Partner with the Tech College Accountable Executive and Software Engineering Lead to drive the annual strategic planning process to align on the vision OKRs operating model and governance model for Tech College while ensuring execution against strategy and integration across software engineering and learning workstreams
Manage a cross-functional team of people leaders managing the Learning Consulting and Design Learning Program Management and Operations and Logistics functions
Coach and develop talent within the Tech College learning team including conducting talent assessment performance management and talent management
Shape and set the tone for team culture by leading rituals driving inclusion and engagement and modeling intentional people leadership
Collaborate with business leaders across Tech Tech HR Enterprise HR and various subject matter experts across the company to iteratively conduct needs analysis and determine revisions to the Tech College learning strategy
Drive execution of enterprise mandates and deliver learning solutions that reflect enterprise priorities especially in areas like test automation continuous deployment AI fluency and onboarding in Capital Ones proprietary environment
Lead design and delivery of peer learning programs and iterate based on leader and learner feedback and impact data
Manage Tech Colleges budget and advocate for resources based on program scale delivery need and organizational priorities.
Collaborate on learner communications and external storytelling sharing Tech College insights and outcomes
Represents Tech College externally via case studies best practices and thought leadership
Collaborate with vendors and external partners to align on industry standards for continuous upskilling certifications and emerging trends; leverage external content library resources when and where appropriate
Here is what you need to be successful:
Experience educating onboarding or supporting software engineers or other technical talent
Familiarity with the software development lifecycle either through product design engineering or enablement roles
Demonstrate ability to lead strategic planning and executive large-scale learning initiatives
High level of initiative ownership and a customer-centric mindset
Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence at all levels
Proven people leader with ability to coach mentor and build high-performing teams
Ability to manage ambiguity lead through change and deliver in a matrixed environment
Enthusiastic about building culture and bringing energy to change and transformation
Experience managing cross-functional partnerships in complex matrixed environments
Awareness of AI and emerging tech trends and how they shape future talent needs
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or Military experience
At least 1 year experience onboarding and educating software engineers and other technical talent
At least 2 years of experience working in a Tech company or with Tech talent in corporate environment
At least 3 years of experience in design learning experience design and/or building/implementing learning strategies
At least 3 years of experience in people leadership
At least 4 years of experience in client consulting
At least 4 years of experience in project and/or program management (planning executing tracking reporting)
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Business Administration
Direct or adjacent product management experience
At least 1 year experience facilitating communication between Engineering and Learning and/or HR teams
5 years of experience in people management
5 years of experience in project management (planning executing tracking reporting))
5 years of experience in driving multi-year company-wide learning endeavors

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean VA: $154600 - $176400 for Sr. Learning ManagerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
