Job Summary

This state-of-the-art unit design features private rooms natural light-filled spaces open nurses station and exercise rooms. Innovative technology has been integrated into this space to promote a safe environment for staff members and patients.

7RCP is separated into a 12-bed mood disorder unit and a 13-bed general adult psychiatry unit. We utilize an evidence-based patient-centered interdisciplinary approach with contributions from physicians psychologists advanced practice providers master-level therapists nurses social workers dieticians occupational and recreational therapists all striving to work collaboratively with patients and families to provide the best possible care. 7RCP features a new and collaborative position Behavioral Health Consultant with a goal to elevate the patient and team outcomes. Evidence-based therapeutic modalities utilized on the unit include dialectical behavior therapy cognitive behavior therapy and trauma-informed care.

Percent of Time: 50-100%
Schedule: 20-40 hours per week shifts vary and negotiable
Location: Roy Carver Pavilion (University Campus)
Rotations:Every otherweekendand rotating holidays

SEIU Pay Plan: Differentials:Shift differentials for evening night and weekend shifts. Premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours. Inpatient differential of $10000 per year

Education Required:

  • An Associates Degree in Nursing a Diploma in Nursing a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP) MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Masters Degree in Nursing (MSN MA) is required.

Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
  • General computer skills are required
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired
  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
  • Knowledge of university and hospital policies and procedures is desired
