Facilitators/Trainers Description:
The primary function of this position is to facilitate skills classes with counselling and psychotherapy students on either the BA in Counselling and Psychotherapy the Higher Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and/or the Masters in Psychotherapy. The skills classes offer experiential learning of counselling and psychotherapy skills incorporating humanistic integrative and psychodynamic theory to support students to understand and implement theory into practice in a small class environment. The skills training modules will follow an agreed academic and experiential programme which includes the use of dyads triads and fishbowls continuous assessments and feedback suitability interviews.
The successful candidate must have core training in humanistic integrative and psychodynamic approaches and have sufficient practical experience working with clients with a variety of clinical presentations. It is a requirement of this position that the successful candidate holds full accreditation with IACP or IAHIP depending on the module.
Modules being recruited for:
1. Stress Response:
Training staff to be trained in and practitioners with experience in areas such as Stress Management sensorimotor psychotherapy trauma neuroplasticity to name a few. Ideally trainers in Stress Response should hold a qualification of at least Level 8 honours bachelors degree in a related area with some teaching training supervising or research experience within the counselling and psychotherapy field.
2. Theory and Practice 1: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Academic staff to be qualified to at least Masters Level 9 in psychotherapy or related area with some teaching training supervising or research experience within the counselling and psychotherapy field. Staff should have considerable practical/clinical experience and experience in mutually supporting theory and practice learning opportunities for learners.
3. Psychotherapy Skills
Staff will have a minimum of a Masters Level 9 in counselling and psychotherapy with some teaching training supervising or research experience within the counselling and psychotherapy field but also specific to the modality being taught. Staff in a practice oriented programme should have considerable practical/clinical experience in mutually supporting theory and practice learning opportunities for learners.
Job Description
(Note: not all activities listed here fall under the responsibilities of Facilitator and Trainer roles)
The role of the hourly paid faculty member carries 2 sets of distinct functions. The first being the Core Delivery Functions and the second being Mandatory Additional Functions.
1. Core Delivery Functions:
(These functions are inclusive of the hourly rate as per the contract)
Develop a Module and Assessment Guide with a structured explicit teaching plan to include content delivery formative assessment and multimodal delivery;
Prepare teaching content and materials including interactive learning activities and real world learning including guest speakers formative assessments and industry-aligned skills development;
Identify knowledge technical and transferable skills in module syllabus outlined in the module descriptor and develop assessment instruments briefs and marking rubrics accordingly;
Upload and regularly update Teaching Learning and Assessment (TL&A) content for module Moodle pages as per DBS guidelines;
Respond to module-related student queries in a timely manner and provide timely feedback to students on CAs as per DBS guidelines;
Write exam papers for first sitting and all repeat examinations and solutions associated with the module;
Grade assessments and upload marks to Moodle;
Moderate assessment briefs exam papers and marks on other modules as assigned;
Prepare Exam Packs for submission to External Examiners as per Exams Office guidelines;
Ensure compliance with all requirements for delivery of module content and adherence to academic standards and regulations
Teach (classroom and/or online) in areas allocated by the Faculty Manager
Undertake other activity associated with the delivery of teaching;
Mandatory attendance at monthly programme team meetings to a maximum of four times a semester;
Attendance at Programme Boards internal and external exam boards Graduation Board of Studies and other meetings as required;
Mandatory completion of all annual corporate compliance training in a timely manner;
Mandatory attendance at the first half hour of your module exams and all Exam Boards to represent module(s)/learner grades.
2. Mandatory Additional Functions
(These functions will attract an additional payment)
Attend student recruitment events open events and other marketing and promotional events as requested;
Supervision of postgraduate dissertations or undergraduate capstone projects;
Review develop and defend module(s) at programme review and programme development internal panels and QQI panels.
