MalaceHR is a trusted workforce solutions provider delivering skilled trades engineering and professional staffing services to top companies across the U.S. We are seeking a Met Lab Technician to join our team and support critical metallurgical testing operations in a manufacturing environment.
The Met Lab Technician will prepare heat-treated components for material structure analysis using specialized laboratory equipment. This role will also perform preliminary testing including micro-hardness and case depth while ensuring accuracy compliance and adherence to quality standards.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conduct routine sediment analysis and testing on samples related to the manufacturing process.
Perform metallurgical testing under the guidance of metallurgists and per technical instructions (TIS).
Develop and maintain required documentation charting and reporting for both sediment and metallurgical processes.
Operate lab equipment for metallurgical and sediment testing.
Approve materials within established criteria and specifications.
Report and document Non-Conformances Corrective Actions and Continuous Improvements.
Assist engineering staff with problem-solving manufacturing process issues.
Maintain compliance with Global Manufacturing System (GMS) procedures.
Ensure safety organization and cleanliness within the lab environment.
Collaborate professionally with team members and other departments.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lab Manager or Metallurgist.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel or similar applications.
Strong understanding of metallurgical concepts practices and procedures.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
Must be able to work within a manufacturing facility which may have variable temperatures.
