Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant Homecare
Location: Orlando FL
Payrate: $42 $54/hr
Position Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a licensed healthcare professional who provides skilled therapy services to patients in their home environment under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). The PTA delivers care in accordance with the established Plan of Care (POC) federal and state regulations and professional standards. The primary goal is to improve patient mobility strength balance endurance and functional independence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implementation of Plan of Care
- Administer therapeutic interventions such as exercises gait and transfer training neuromuscular re-education and endurance activities as delegated by the supervising PT.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs fall prevention and safe use of assistive devices.
- Monitor patient performance during visits and report progress or concerns to the supervising PT.
- Adjust treatment techniques as needed within the scope of the established POC.
Communication and Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with the supervising PT regarding patient progress and clinical changes.
- Report any changes in patient condition safety risks or functional decline promptly.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated patient-centered care.
- Attend team meetings and case conferences as required.
Documentation and Compliance
- Complete and submit accurate visit documentation within required timelines (typically within 24 48 hours).
- Ensure all documentation supports medical necessity and skilled need per payer and regulatory standards.
- Assist with progress updates and discharge planning as appropriate (supervising PT remains responsible for evaluations and reassessments).
- Adhere to professional and legal standards for care delivery and documentation.
Patient Education and Safety
- Provide instruction on body mechanics energy conservation adaptive strategies and equipment use.
- Identify environmental hazards in the home and recommend basic modifications for safety.
- Encourage patient participation in therapy and promote independence in daily living activities.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Active and valid PTA license in the state of Florida.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred; home health experience is highly desirable.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of therapeutic techniques functional mobility and gait training.
- Ability to implement and adjust care plans based on patient response.
- Skilled in patient and caregiver education especially regarding safety and mobility.
- Proficiency in electronic documentation and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working independently in diverse home settings while maintaining clinical and regulatory standards.
