Are you a talented and ambitious university student studying Human Resource Management Bachelor of Business Administration Commerce or an Industrial Relations related field and youre looking to gain practical experience in your field of study We have the perfect opportunity for you to join our People & Culture (HR)  team at OceanaGold Waihi operation.

This paid internship opportunity will run approximately from mid to late November through to mid-February (dependent on exam timetable of the successful applicant).

What will you be doing

• Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members.
• Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns providing you with a well-rounded knowledge of the mining process.
• Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship showcasing your growth and achievements.

Specific project work will involve:

• Undertake a process review each fortnight to take to the People & Culture team meeting for peer review and feedback.
• Summarise key findings of each review and learnings taken from the review process.
• Present key improvements to the People & Culture team and Managers that need to be undertaken and plan the change management process for it to occur.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Critically evaluating human resources processes and checking documentation and policies are accurate and aligned to approved current internal standards and relevant legislation.

Qualifications :

What do I need to join the Intern program

• In your mid 2nd or later year of study (Human Resource Management Bachelor of Business Administration Commerce or an Industrial Relations related field).
• Have accommodation options at Waihi or surrounding areas.
• Current & strong academic performance and a passion for your chosen field.
• Effective communication interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Full Drivers License and the ability to drive a manual vehicle preferred.
• Availability to participate from mid-late November through to mid-February (2025-2026).
