Are you a talented and ambitious university student studying business systems administration software applications or network engineering and youre looking to gain practical experience in your field of study We have the perfect opportunity for you to join our Information & Technology and Health & Safety teams at OceanaGold Waihi operation.

This paid internship opportunity will run approximately from mid to late November through to mid-February (dependent on exam timetable of the successful applicant).

What will you be doing

  • Gaining practical experience in your chosen field of study by working on diverse projects assigned by department managers and team members.
  • Participating in various group activities and projects with other Interns providing you with a well-rounded knowledge of the mining process.
  • Presenting your experiences and key learnings to the Site Management Team at the conclusion of the internship showcasing your growth and achievements.

Specific project work will involve:

  • Mapping smart assets to the site maps in Gallaghers to assist with troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Conduct Gallaghers and Milestone eLearning modules to enhance site knowledge.
  • Develop safe work instructions (SWI).
  • Investigate and implement smart functions of CCTV analytic cameras utilising Milestone VMS.
  • Develop 2026 capital plan to purchase and install additional security IT assets.
  • Investigate improvement opportunities with Gallaghers reporting to include addition of new zones doors and accuracy time zones (NS/DS) and naming convention for the reporting structure.
  • Analyse emergency evacuation reports EOM exposure hours and security reports.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop site knowledge and a documented approach to smart technologies including database reporting.
  • Assist with project planning and smart assets for 2026.
  • Investigate refine document smart technologies and reporting.

Qualifications :

What do I need to join the Intern program

  • In your mid 2nd or final year of study (Business Systems Administration Software Applications or Network Engineering related fields).
  • Have accommodation options at Waihi or surrounding areas.
  • Current & strong academic performance and a passion for your chosen field.
  • Effective communication interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Full Drivers License and the ability to drive a manual vehicle preferred.
  • Availability to participate from mid-late November through to mid-February (2025-2026).
