Job Summary
The Warehouse Northlands in Christchurch New Zealand is seeking a vigilant and professional Loss Prevention (Security) Officer to join our this crucial role you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our customers and staff while preventing theft and minimising losses.
- Monitor store activities through regular patrols and surveillance systems to detect and prevent theft fraud and other security breaches
- Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents emergencies and customer service issues
- Conduct investigations into suspected theft or fraudulent activities
- Apprehend and detain shoplifters in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
- Collaborate with store management to implement and improve loss prevention strategies
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed incident reports
- Assist in training staff on security procedures and loss prevention techniques
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a security presence
Please note this is a casual position with no set weekly hours.
Qualifications :
- Valid security guard licence as per New Zealand regulations
- Previous experience in retail security or loss prevention roles
- Thorough understanding of security procedures surveillance systems and loss prevention techniques
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with customers and staff
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
- Proficiency in report writing and record-keeping
- Physical fitness to perform the duties of the role
- First aid certification (preferred)
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of retail operations and customer service principles
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
