Staff Accountant
Location: Leeds MA (onsite)
Industry: Manufacturing
Compensation: $70000 $80000 depending on experience
About the Role
Our client a well-established manufacturer is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable juggling core accounting responsibilities while also serving as a reliable backup to other areas of the department.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the general ledger
- Perform account analysis and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting
- Serve as backup for Accounts Payable including invoice entry and vendor payments
- Serve as backup for cash application applying customer payments and resolving discrepancies
- Partner with the Cost Accountant to:
- Update standard costs
- Review inventory invoices and transactions
- Support analysis of inventory activity
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (preferred)
- 24 years of accounting experience ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems
- Experience with AS400 and VAI ERP systems is highly desirable
- Strong attention to detail with ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
