The Opportunity:

The Information Technology Computing & Telecommunication Center at Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU Tri-Cities) is dedicated to supporting students faculty and staff with their computing and technology needs. Our focus is on both supporting the effective integration of technology into the academic and administrative life of our campus and on keeping campus user technology current and easy to use.

In the IT Network & Telecommunications Entry role at WSU Tri-Cities you will provide computer and network troubleshooting and resolution of all problem requests received via trouble tickets phone calls and in-person requests from the campus community. Under general guidance you will troubleshoot end user VoIP phone issues and provide administration of the campus Private Branch Exchange phone system (PBX). Additionally under supervision you will determine necessary maintenance for the campusLANandWAN identify network disruptions and resolve them in a timely manner. You will also provide training on use of hardware and software to addition you will manage the move add change (MAC) process for the campus. Finally you will help with the IT Help Desk daily activities by providing technical assistance to student help desk technicians. As needed you will act as part of the campus emergency response team.

Percentage Breakdown of Job Functions:

  • 60% IT Systems Networking Implementation and Administration

  • 20% Process Customer-Initiated Service Requests

  • 15% Installation Maintenance and Documentation

  • 5% Other Duties as Assigned

This is a full-time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.


This position works on-site on the WSU Tri-Cities campus in Richland WA.

Monthly Salary: $6068.00 - $8164.00 Range 03IT Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with
RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelors degree in a related technology field plus 2 years of data network and telecommunications support experience
