Job Summary

Provides customer service to citizens from the Police Department giving citizens general information directing them to the proper City department and delivering limited police service. Performs data entry into the records management system. Processes Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act (CORA/CCJRA) requests. Duties and responsibilities of this position include reviewing and preparing law enforcement reports body worn camera audio and video recordings for release to internal and external customers.

Experience Knowledge Skills

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of relevant experience

OR

  • Any combination of related education experience certifications and licenses that will results in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

AND

  • Possession of a valid drivers license.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for processing and releasing criminal justice recordsrequests.
  • Develops and maintains records releaseprocedures.
  • Downloads digital media files from the Evidence management system and completes appropriate chain ofcustody.
  • Stays up to date on current and applicable CCJRA laws CORA laws and senate bill changes and makes recommendations on how the agency can comply with saidlaws.
  • Ensures the departments CCJRA procedures processes and other documentation are up to date with current and accuratecontent.
  • Determines the method of addressing police records requests.
  • Improves practices and procedures and makes recommendations for efficient and accurate processes.
  • Communicates with the Records Manager to interpret and apply CCJRA laws utilizing experience and judgment to accomplish thesetasks.
  • Responds to requests for public records in accordance with CCJRA regulations and departmental policies and procedures redacting as necessary prior torelease.
  • Searchs compiles reviews analyzes redacts and processes open records requests for relevant body worn camera dispatch recordings digital media as well as other documents and datarecords.
  • Provides quality assurance for the documentation release and redaction of body-worn camera video andrecords.
  • Assists in implementing records retention guidelines and prepares scans and purges documents and files in compliance with said policies procedures regulations and public recordslaws.
  • Acts as a resource and subject matter expert for Records employees as needed regarding CCJRA laws policies requirements and software tools used to perform searches analysis and redaction of recordsdata.
  • Keeps informed of current technical advancements and industry changes and makes recommendations for digital records requestplatforms.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other law enforcement agencies on current CCJRApractices.
  • Maintains confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information obtained orreviewed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
