Job Description

Administrator/Victim Coordinator
Department: Law Victim Services
Employment Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Civil Service Status:Unclassified
Location: Wilmington OH 45177

General Description
  • Under the general supervision of the Law Director the Administrator/Victim Coordinator provides administrative and clerical support for the Victim Assistance Program. This role coordinates services with community agencies assists with volunteer selection and training provides victim advocacy and support throughout court proceedings and helps secure funding sources to sustain program operations. The position also serves as a liaison with the City Prosecutors Office and stays up to date on laws impacting victim services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gather information from law enforcement agencies compile and organize files for the Prosecutor in misdemeanor cases.
  • Notify victims of all court hearings per statutory requirements accompany victims to hearings explain court proceedings and outcomes assist victims with restitution requests and available resources and act as liaison between victims and the Prosecutors Office.
  • Research and apply for funding opportunities maintain statistics and budget records and provide required quarterly reports to funding agencies.
  • Prepare and distribute written materials for the public and crime victims about victims rights.
  • Submit vouchers for payment to the Auditors Office and maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment.
  • Attend meetings trainings and seminars as assigned; comply with all job safety requirements and OSHA standards; maintain regular and predictable attendance; perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED; demonstrated training and/or experience in office practices and procedures; or any equivalent combination of education experience and training that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio drivers license and must remain insurable under the Citys vehicle insurance plan.
Education/Experience:
  • Associates degree in Social Work Sociology Psychology Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in counseling social work crisis intervention criminal justice or a related field involving public contact.
  • Any equivalent combination of education experience and training that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities will be considered.
Licensure/Certification: None required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of legal terminology courtroom procedures and basic accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office equipment (computer fax copier scanner etc.).
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws rules and regulations; communicate effectively; maintain accurate records; and develop positive working relationships with the public and officials.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily office-based work with extended periods of computer use.
  • Occasional exposure to emotionally distraught individuals life-threatening situations or hostile environments.
  • Light physical demands including occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
The pay rate for this position is consistent with the Citys approved pay plan; this position is in grade 19 of the pay plan which starts at $32.65 per hour.
