Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Install configure and maintain SQL Server databases (including SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 or Azure SQL).
Monitor system performance and ensure database availability and reliability.
Perform database tuning optimization and query performance monitoring using native monitoring tools.
Manage database security by controlling access permissions and privileges.
Implement backup recovery and high availability (HA/DR) strategies (e.g. Always On Log Shipping Database Mirroring).
Plan and execute database upgrades and patching.
Create and manage database documentation and standards.
Collaborate with developers to ensure efficient database design and performance.
Automate routine DBA tasks using PowerShell or T-SQL scripts.
Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery drills.
Troubleshoot database issues and provide 24/7 support for critical systems as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or related field.
7-10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or in a similar role.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2012 and later versions).
Solid experience with T-SQL stored procedures indexing and performance tuning.
Experience with HA/DR technologies like Always On Availability Groups replication and failover clustering.
Familiarity with tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) SQL Profiler and third-party monitoring tools.
Working knowledge of Windows Server OS and Active Directory.
Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar certification.
Experience with Azure SQL Database Managed Instances and hybrid cloud environments.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines involving database deployments.
Knowledge on Azure Cloud Infrastructure and Azure Databases.
Experience with data warehousing and SSIS/SSRS/SSAS is a plus.
