Distribution Center Manager- Farmers Branch TX
- Location: Farmers Branch TX - onsite
- Salary Range: $85000-$100000 annual base pay
- Reports to: Senior Director/Vice President Labs
Position Overview:
The Distribution Center Manager will lead all aspects of our distribution center operations with a strong focus on optimizing service to all stakeholders and minimizing operational costs. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient and effective distribution of our optical products maintaining high standards of quality safety and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics supply chain management distribution management and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Lead daily operations of the distribution center including receiving stowing picking packing and shipping frames accessories lenses equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring all stores are effectively provided the materials required to conduct successful optical retail operations. Processes also overseen are cross-dock operations supporting the in-house central lab and all 3rd party lab operations.
- Implement improve and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with company policies.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Distribution Center Optimization:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance distribution center efficiency reduce costs and improve service levels.
- Leverage technology and best practices to streamline distribution center processes and improve overall performance.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead mentor and develop a team of distribution center staff including supervisors warehouse workers and administrative personnel.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork accountability and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to team members.
Inventory Control:
- Ensure accurate inventory levels through regular cycle counts audits and reconciliation processes.
- Implement inventory management best practices to minimize stock discrepancies and optimize storage space.
Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations including those related to labor health and safety.
Customer Service:
- Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment to meet consumer and store expectations.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to resolve any distribution-related issues promptly and effectively.
- Continuously seek ways to enhance the customer experience through improved distribution processes and practices.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the distribution center budget ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies without compromising quality or service.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in logistics supply chain management business administration or a related field is preferred or comparable experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a multi-shift distribution center management with a proven track record of success.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff. Able to work as a cross-functional partner with peers and executives in all departments.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software. Ability to conceptualize and improve existing system flows and recommend system changes to support improved operations.
- Understanding of inventory management principles and best practices. Courage to implement process changes in applying these principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
