Job Description

Purpose of the job:

The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing and improving the financial and operational performance of the organization. This role combines financial expertise with strong operational knowledge to drive efficiency cost-effectiveness and business performance. The Plant Controller collaborates closely with various departments to analyze key metrics streamline processes and ensure compliance with financial and operational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial operations and ensure accurate reporting of operational results.
  • Manage support and complete performance reviews of the plant accounting and finance team.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to track operational and financial performance.
  • Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted forecasts; recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor weekly payment proposals cash needs and initiate intercompany and foreign currency transfers
  • Oversee customer credit management AR aging and cash collections
  • Collaborate with operations teams to improve workflow productivity and cost-efficiency.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes for the plant.
  • Implement and maintain compliance with internal controls and maintain compliance with tax regulations and external audit requirements to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Assist in strategic planning and operational decision-making with actionable insights.
  • Identify and execute process improvement initiatives across departments.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial and operational reports in accordance with GAAP and Group Accounting Policies for site and group leadership.
  • Support audit tax and insurance requirements of U.S. and global reporting entities and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

Professional Experience:

  • 10 years progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a managerial role
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
  • Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
  • Advanced financial systems experience required. ERP system experience preferred (e.g. SAP Oracle MS Dynamics)
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and Ad Hoc reporting.

Education and specialized skills profile:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (Masters degree is a plus).
  • CPA / CMA or Chartered Accountant
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP. IFRS experience a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of costing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to calculate post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Exceptional math skills in relation to business calculations
  • Proficiency in MS Office especially Excel and proficiency with accounting systems.
  • High degree of accuracy attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Excellent data management and data analysis skills
  • Excellent analytical problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Wholistic thinking in analyzing and redesigning of business processes and systems
  • Effective verbal listening and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization.
  • Effective organizational stress and time management skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people

  • Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit and walk and talk or hear; and use hands to finger handle or operate objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally stand sit stoop bend kneel crouch or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but occasionally high in specific areas.

Mobility and Physical Requirement profile:

  • Work location is Klamath Falls Oregon USA. This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel on short notice
  • Travel up to 10%
  • The physical criteria for many of the tasks in this job description require the ability to walk a large plant site and climb stairs and ladders to tall towers and buildings.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk hear stand walk; use hands/fingers.
  • This is a full-time position and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may require some extended hours and weekend accessibility. Ability to Work from Home periodically subject to arrangements made with management and based on position needs.
