Job Description

Plumbing Engineer

Location: Houston TX
Job Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: MidSenior (PE preferred)

About the Role

We are seeking a Plumbing Engineer to join our Houston team. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who can take ownership of medium to large-scale projects with minimal supervision. Youll lead plumbing system design coordinate across disciplines and contribute to project delivery on impactful work including K-12 schools higher education and commercial facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations and apply plumbing engineering principles to support project design and delivery.

  • Develop edit and produce project specifications.

  • Prepare plumbing design drawings in AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Review and approve shop drawings RFIs submittals addendums and other construction documents.

  • Conduct field work and produce field reports to verify design intent.

  • Manage medium to large projects (e.g. schools commercial buildings) from start to finish with minimal oversight.

  • Participate in and when assigned lead client meetings.

  • Mentor teammates and contribute to knowledge transfer.

  • Support business development by translating technical expertise and client relationships into growth opportunities.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of building codes and client design standards.

  • Proficiency in designing:

    • Domestic cold and hot water systems

    • Sanitary waste and vent systems

    • Roof drainage and storm sewer systems

    • Fire sprinkler systems

    • Natural gas systems

    • Compressed air fuel gas and specialty gas systems

  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies to stay ahead in plumbing engineering advancements.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in Texas or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.

  • Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Team-oriented with the ability to lead and mentor others.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Revit Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Previous experience in an MEP consulting environment.
