Job Description

Job Title: Anthropology - Visiting Professorial Faculty

Position Start Date:August 1 2026

Required Degree: Ph.D. in Anthropology or closely related discipline.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: The Department of Anthropology seeks applicants for a visiting faculty position (open rank) in archaeology to begin Fall 2026. All areas of geographical and theoretical specialization will be considered. We are particularly interested in candidates who are capable of teaching museum studies courses and are committed to mentoring student research.

Duties/Expectations:The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses each semester and one course during the Spring/Summer terms. Assigned courses will include introductory courses archaeological method and theory writing courses as well as courses within the candidates geographical and theoretical areas of expertise. The candidate should also have experience in museum studies and teaching museum courses. The candidate will also be expected to maintain an active research program that complements the current expertise of our faculty (see ).
