Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Mechanical Test Technician to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up operating and maintaining mechanical testing equipment to evaluate materials components and products in accordance with established procedures standards and safety requirements. This role is ideal for someone with a technical background who enjoys hands-on work problem-solving and ensuring high-quality testing results.

Salary: $22- $25/hour (Depending on Experience) $3.00 Shift Differential

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical testing on materials and components (e.g. tensile compression hardness fatigue and vibration tests).

  • Set up calibrate and operate test equipment and data acquisition systems.

  • Prepare test specimens fixtures and test setups according to test procedures.

  • Record analyze and document test data with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Support engineers and quality teams in interpreting results and troubleshooting issues.

  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean organized laboratory/test area.

  • Assist with preventive maintenance and calibration of test equipment.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and efficiency.

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or technical certification in Mechanical Technology Engineering or related field preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical test equipment (Instron MTS or similar) is an advantage.

  • Basic understanding of mechanics materials and measurement principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word) or similar software for reporting.

Work Environment:

  • Part-time role approx. 1525 hours per week (schedule flexible may include evenings or weekends depending on project needs).
  • Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
  • Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50lbs periodically
