JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist may assume responsibility for a variety of areas within the Human Resources framework. This Generalists primary act is to administer leave of absences ensure proper compliance investigate unemployment claims facilitate new hire on-boarding conduct online & in-person training be knowledgeable of policies and procedures address employee & labor relation concerns responsible for employment recruiting and participates in all employee events. As necessary this Generalist will also be responsible for various other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Research and track leaves related to the team members to successfully resolve and administer leaves
  • Compile organize represent and track of all state/federal unemployment information
  • Facilitate new hire on-boarding training compliance and employment recruiting
  • Plan organize and participate in all HR related events
  • Resolve team member questions and concerns by interpreting the Companys policies and procedures
  • Act as a liaison between team members and management & team members and union representatives
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; participating in professional societies
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:

College Degree HR or Business Administration preferred. Experience in hotel/casino industry preferred. Supervisor and 2 years previous HR experience preferred. Knowledge of all employment related laws and basic knowledge leave administration with a general knowledge of Human Resources Management.

SOCIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have an outgoing energetic and enthusiastic attitude. Must be comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment with our guests.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully the incumbent must possess excellent skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs including Excel Word PowerPoint and Publisher. Must possess good working knowledge of general computer programs. Must be proficient and accurate in data entry

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission and the Indiana Gaming Commission.
