Job Summary:

Geisingers Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a Cerebrovascular Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The role involves hands-on mentorship and professional development offering a clear path to becoming an independent investigator. Job Duties:

Your Role:

  • Focused Research: Engage in detailed studies within the cerebrovascular domain applying your expertise to advance ongoing projects. Your contributions will play a crucial role in our continuous quest for knowledge.
  • Data Analysis and Protocol Development: Interpret research data to inform future studies develop research protocols and work under the guidance of principal scientists to shape the direction of investigations.
  • Collaborative Environment: Begin with mentorship from experienced faculty and have the opportunity for growth. As your skills develop your role may evolve to include mentoring peers and leading aspects of research projects.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Present your findings to the scientific community both within Geisinger and at external scientific venues. This engagement will elevate your research while contributing to the broader discourse in neurosurgical science.

Access to Geisinger MyCode:

Fellows may leverage MyCodes extensive genomic and health data resources integrating this information into the cerebrovascular research. MyCodes access to genetic data linked with electronic health records provides valuable insights that can inform research on disease risk treatment response and precision medicine approaches in cerebrovascular conditions.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Medical degree or doctoral degree (MD PhD) or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of publications as a first or senior author.
  • Experience in data analysis and protocol development including independent statistical analysis. Versatility with statistical software such as R SPSS MATLAB SAS STATA MedCalc or GraphPad Prism is essential.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Virtual/Remote Research Fellowship:

A remote mentored research opportunity is available for qualified candidates interested in participating in Geisingers cerebrovascular research projects. Virtual fellows may engage in various activities including research and project design literature reviews statistical analysis writing and graphical design. Please note that virtual fellows will not hold an official affiliation with Geisinger and no access to electronic health records or protected health information will be provided. This opportunity serves as a valuable introduction to the program and may serve as a potential pathway toward a future cerebrovascular fellow position.
