Job Description
The Desert Research Institute (DRI) is seeking a dedicated individual to fill a full-time Laboratory Technician II position. Key responsibilities of this position include performing analyses in the Soil Characterization Lab (soil lab) and Cosmogenic lab (cosmo lab) and cosmogenic preparation of samples as needed such as rock crushing milling mineral separation. The Laboratory Technician II position can expect to perform a wide range of physical and chemical analyses in the soil lab be responsible for sample tracking and chain of custody of receiving and sending samples and entering data and calculations of laboratory results into various software. Key job duties also include keeping a clean and safe workspace and maintaining laboratory equipment. The successful incumbent must ensure all EH&S safety protocols are met following standard operating procedures (SOPs). This position is located in Reno NV.
High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience OR an Associates degree and 2 years of related experience
Knowledge in technical laboratory instrumentation and software including ion
chromatography electrical conductivity meters
Experience operating delicate laboratory instrumentation
Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite and lab databases
Bachelors Degree in related field
Experience withMalvern Mastersizer 3000 and its software
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting objects up to 40 lbs. on occasion. Must be able to use a hammer to break up rocks on occasion.
This is a DRI Technologist position Grade 31 with a salary range of $53820 and is commensurate with education and experience.
