This position is responsible for performing work associated with processing workers compensation benefits for the following Special Fund programs. No Insurance Bankrupt Self-Insured Pre-1973 supportive care with emphasis on Vocational Rehabilitation and Apportionment claims.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

All work including remote work should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.
Will investigate evaluate and analyze Workers Compensation insurance claims and/or no insurance claims and determine eligibility for vocational rehabilitation benefits as well as review apportionment requests and reimburse apportionment annually; make benefits award determinations and negotiate claims settlements; capable of average monthly wage calculations loss of earning award calculations and lifetime award determination; determines fatal accident awards; provides assistance and technical advice to other employees involved in processing claims; coordinates claim litigation; reviews various claim reports and ensures that they are in accord with all applicable requirements; familiar with identification of subrogation potential; maintains electronic files as well as completing claims coding and database information.
Attends staff meetings shares information and participates in problem solving as well as performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge in:
Arizona workers compensation statutes rules of procedure regulations Court of Appeals decisions regarding workers compensation law.
Workers compensation claims processing procedures and best practices.
Federal and State vocational rehabilitation laws.
Medical vocational rehabilitation and insurance terminology.
Early return to work programs.
Litigation management; automated claims management systems.
Claims investigation methodology.
Labor market conditions.
Skills in:
Reach logical claims determinations and make recommendations and/or settlements.
Investigate workers compensation claims and analyze facts relative to the claims.
Negotiate claims settlement.
Ability to:
Communicate verbally and in writing.
Plan organize and analyze claims and medical data.
Interact with claimants carriers third party administrators medical providers attorneys employers claimant dependents and other interested parties.
Utilizing File Handler Salesforce Microsoft Offices and Google suites.
5 years experience managing Arizona Indemnity claims.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).
