Job Goal: To act as a liaison between school home and community to provide prevention assessment intervention and support services to enhance academic social and emotional success for students at risk of school failure.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. Degree
- Licensure by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners
- Mental health clinical experience with children and adolescents preferred
- Valid driver license

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent
Background Check Required:(Ala. Code 16-22A-5 ) Upon offer of employment employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.

- Ability to organize maintain and report data and information related to health and social services
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
- Adheres to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Professional Standards and Code of Ethics
- Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced high- intensive work environment
- Knowledge of Board policies and procedures along with school system functions departments personnel and schools necessary for the efficient and effective processing of communications
- Ability to use and manage technology including but not limited to e-mail internet Microsoft Office etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Network with the Mental Health providers to assist students and their families
- Provide support services counseling and follow-up for targeted students
- Assist school personnel in communications with the Department of Human Resources in cases of neglect or child abuse
- Assist schools school nurses and families in obtaining social and/or health services for children
- Make home visits as a liaison between school and home
- Attend Mental Health appointments to provide additional input for clinical determination addressing the childs needs
- Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans and behavior modification
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills in group settings
- Perform other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned
- This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
- Under the Students First Act of 2011 no credit toward tenure or non- probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
Expected Employment: 187 days (full year)
Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
Salary Range: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
