Job Description

  • Wellington based Full-Time

  • Two-year fixed term contract

  • Midpoint of $106849 dependent on experience

Ko tu ake mahi - What youll do

Were looking for a skilled and motivatedSenior Advisorto support key work programmes focused on individuals under compulsory care and treatment. This is an opportunity to provide high-quality advice manage statutory processes and contribute to the monitoring and assurance that protects some of the countrys most vulnerable people while they are subject to legally imposed controls. Youll work closely with colleagues service providers and inspectors helping shape the Ministrys approach to regulatory monitoring in a complex and sensitive environment. Youll be working with highly sensitive medical and personal information some of which may be confronting. A high level of discretion resilience and professionalism is essential

You will:

  • Deliver consistent high-quality advice and guidance across key programmes contributing to both strategic direction and operational success.

  • Oversee statutory processes produce clear and accurate reports and collaborate with service providers and inspectors to protect human rights and improve services.

  • Review analyse and summarise regulatory reports to distil key issues and provide advice about appropriate interventions and escalation.

  • Manage sensitive and personal information with professionalism and care ensuring all work aligns with Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.

  • Draft ministerial correspondence respond to parliamentary questions and prepare briefings that support informed decision-making

  • Familiarity with legislation and statutory processes and how they can be implemented effectively.

  • Previous experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences

  • Understanding the role and tools of a regulator
