Job Description:
Job Description Summary
Leads the assessment of ongoing effectiveness of ORM programs (e.g. ILED Issue Management etc) including identification of enhancements for consideration by the program owner. Reporting of results at both a Program level and in aggregate to Senior Executive Committee. Maturation of ORM Program Validation approach for efficiency and use of tools such as Power BI. May provide oversight commentary and recommendations based on overall strategy and industry best practices. Provide a comprehensive and diverse range of risk management expertise to business leaders.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
CUSTOMER
- Lead the development and/or implementation of ORM Program Validation across 7 programs owned by Corporate Operational Risk. Validation provides an independent view of the effectiveness of Business implementation and operationalizing operational risk programs to manage risk.
- Proactively analyze potential risks and ensure escalation of key risks to appropriate areas and/or executive review with business executive findings and action plans to mitigate and manage operational risks.
- Establish and provide on-going analysis and reporting on operational risk and/or other major risk subcategories as applicable review findings and action plans with business leaders to identify mitigate and manage key issues.
- Understand and engage SMEs for operational risk disciplines / programs including Risk & Control Self-Assessment Internal Losses Issues Management Scenario Analysis KI Program etc. As needed engage other risk programs such as Business Continuity Management Outsourcing & Vendor Management Regulatory Compliance (e.g. CDIC AML Privacy IDA CBA SOX Basel etc).
- Support enterprise-wide operational risk escalation review and approval processes data management policies and risk assessment processes.
- May also be responsible for providing support on operational risk for other major risk areas (e.g. Market Credit Reputational and/or Regulatory risks etc.)
- A point of contact for guidance in the monitoring/ reporting of ORM Programs Program Validation and corresponding enhancements identified.
- Provide broad/deep commentary in support of the development/ maintenance/ oversight of validation and testing approaches including planning evidence management and results both by individual program as well as in aggregate.

- Ensure respective programs/policies/practices are well managed meet business needs complies with internal and external requirements and aligns with business priorities.
- Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate.
- Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements ( e.g. financial controls segregation of duties transaction approvals and physical control of assets).
- Participate in cross-functional / enterprise / initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations.
- Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development/ delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience.
- Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions make recommendations assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices.
- Monitor service productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exist.
- Lead / facilitate and/or implement actions / remediation plans to address performance / risk /governance issues.
- Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines corporate and/or oversight functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements.
- Keep abreast of emerging issues trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.

- Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or
- 7 years relevant experience in operational risk.
