Position summary
Under the direction of the principal investigator Dr. Darcy Wagner the Biomedical Data Analyst will support the Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC) Program in Pulmonary Regenerative Medicine. The candidate participates in the execution of imaging and computational biology research projects focused on lung disease and regeneration. The role involves managing and analyzing complex imaging datasets including work with virtual reality platforms machine learning and computational infrastructure as well as contributing to scientific publications and training.
General Duties
Actively participates in the execution of ongoing research projects related to lung regeneration with a focus on image-based datasets
Designs and develops pipelines for image analysis including virtual reality and machine learning approaches for large and complex biomedical imaging data
Builds sustainable infrastructure for data storage management and analysis in coordination with the information technology department and external platforms (e.g. Digital Research Alliance of Canada)
Serves as a liaison between the CERC Lung Regenerative Medicine Program and external partners (e.g. academic collaborators healthcare professionals industry)
Participates in scientific writing for high-impact academic journals and contributes to grant applications
Provides training in virtual reality-based image analysis and data handling to internal and external collaborators including postdoctoral fellows graduate undergraduate and medical students
Assists in procurement of specialized imaging and data analysis equipment by coordinating with purchasing teams and vendors
Participates in public outreach initiatives to share scientific findings with the broader community
Participates in group meetings and the general day-to-day management of the programs research activities
Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor (Dr. Darcy Wagner).
