Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine is seeking a hospital-based Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist to provide expert psychiatric care and clinical teaching to residents and medical students based at our main regional hospital Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Radford Virginia. The position offers the opportunity to work from home part of the time providing consultation via telemedicine and limited weekend call responsibilities.

Carilion New River Valley Medical Center has 110 medical-surgical beds and 32 dedicated to inpatient psychiatry. The hospital campus also includes an office based opioid treatment clinic (OBOT) and multidisciplinary outpatient psychiatry clinic. There is a separate dedicated Emergency Psychiatry service throughout our system. Additional aligned services include Interventional Psychiatry Brain Injury Medicine Geriatric Psychiatry.
Our Consultation-Liaison service spans all seven of the Carilion hospitals including rural and critical access hospitals by leveraging telemedicine. Our team is supported by dedicated mental health care coordinators and a 24/7 call center.
The qualified candidate will be fellowship-trained in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry or have completed training in Internal Medicine-Psychiatry or Family Practice-Psychiatry or similar. Two or more years of substantial experience in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry is also acceptable.
