Under the supervision of the General Registrar the Chief Deputy Registrar performs difficult professional and administrative work to plan organize and oversee the internal operations of the department. This position supports the voter registration and election process in compliance with federal state and local laws and is responsible for departmental operation in the absence of the General Registrar. The Chief Deputy Registrar is appointed by the Director of Elections/ General Registrar for the duration of the General Registrars term. SupervisoryResponsibilities:

Essential Functions:
- Manages day-to-day operations of the Voter Registration office.
- Develops strategies to increase voter participation and coordinatesvoteroutreach activitiesforthedepartment;
- Participatesinoperationalpolicyandproceduredevelopment;
- Determineseligibilityofapplicantsto registertovote and/or voteinaccordancewithlaw;
- Manages the operation of the central Absentee Voting precinct used for early voting;
- Schedules coordinates and advertises meetings for the Electoral Board;
- Supervises and trains staff inexistingpoliciesproceduresandguidelines;
- Assistsinthedevelopmentoflong-rangeplanningforthedepartmentto includebudgetpreparation;
- Reconciles and tracks expenditures for the department;
- Oversees personnel actions such as onboarding offboarding timekeeping stipend payments compliance training etc.;
- WorkscloselywithotherCounty/Statedepartments/agenciestocoordinatejointprojects;
- Serves as FOIA officer for the Department;
- Performsother relateddutiesasassigned.
Competency:Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities:
- ThoroughknowledgeofFederalandStatelawregardingvoterregistrationandelection administration as well as State Board of Elections and local policies and procedures;
- Thoroughknowledgeofvotingproceduresandequipment operation;
- Strong skills in supervising and training personnel;
- Skilled in financial and budget management;

RequiredEducationand Experience:
- Anycombinationofeducationand experience equivalenttotwoyearsofcollege.
- Demonstrated extensiveandprogressivelyresponsibleoffice management andsupervisoryexperience.
- Mustbeeligibletobecome anotary public.
Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:
- Considerable professional experience in voter registration and election administrative work
- Certified Professional Deputy Registrar credential

- TheDeputyRegistrarisappointedforatermnottoexceedthatoftheappointingregistrarand serves at his/her discretion.
- The Deputy Registrar may not be a paid or volunteer worker in the campaign of a candidate for nomination orelectiontoanofficefilled byelection inwholeorinpartbythequalified votersof his/her jurisdiction.
- TheDeputyRegistrarmaynotholdelectiveofficeandmaynotbetheemployeeordeputyof an elected official.
- Allworkmustbecompletedinanon-partisanfashionincumbentmustbeabletotactfullyhandle partisan political statements made by officials candidates or the general public.
