Job Description

Job Title: Facilities & Maintenance Technician
Department: Facilities
Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Facilities
Schedule: Year Round

The Facilities & Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the building grounds in a safe clean and functioning addition to the day-to-day operations the Facilities & Maintenance Technician will be equipped and knowledgeable in responding to various tasks and performing repairs that require immediate attention.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support the Director of Facilities in supervision of third-party vendors when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Facilities to ensure that scheduled preventive maintenance and fire safety proceduresare in place and being performed in accordance with industry standards.
  • Determine need for external assistance on repair issues.
  • Perform proper care and maintenance of all mechanical systems.
  • Support Director of Facilities with fleet vehicle maintenance including taking vehicle(s) in for any necessary repairs.
  • Manage and resolve work orders received through the School Dude (Brightly) system.
  • Perform daily building inspections identifying items that require attention.
  • Perform daily check of heating/air conditioning levels throughout building. Reporting to Director of Facilities for adjustment as needed to accommodate the influence of outside conditions.
  • Address needs accordingly for snow/salt conditions in winter to ensure ample pathways and sidewalks are cleared between building entrances and the streets.
  • Address needs of landscaping and grounds appearance taking regular action to maintain positive clean and orderly appearance. This includes trash and gum removal.
  • Perform necessary repairs to ensure functional furniture and equipment throughout school. This includes performing repair tasks such as carpentry painting plumbing electrical lighting HVAC and use of power tools.
  • Responsible for arranging and completing set-up and takedown for special events.
  • Receive (store when necessary) and distribute all deliveries to school.
  • Perform daily maintenance tasks according to plan with sensitivity to school schedule and usage.
  • Availability to respond to emergency call-ins.
Work Schedule: Tuesday Saturday
Tuesday Friday: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
Saturday: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm

Qualifications:
  • Maintain a strong service-oriented attitude
  • 5 years of experience in facilities and/or property management worked in a school environment a plus
  • Ability to work on high lifts and ladders
  • Ability to repair commercial kitchen equipment a plus
  • Ability to run fire drill and evacuation drills
  • Demonstrated abilities in repair skills (carpentry painting plumbing electrical lighting HVAC etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
  • Strong organization time management and task prioritization skills
  • Ability to coordinate efforts among individuals and work collaboratively with others
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate with various individuals including faculty staff parents andothers.
  • Ability to read speak and understand English fluently
  • Must have a valid state drivers license
  • Must be willing and able to complete and pass background and alcohol / drug tests
  • Ability to drive 10-passenger van is a plus
  • Ability to use diplomacy professionalism and discretion in your behavior with internal and external constituencies
  • Ability to use and efficiently learn technology platforms including Office 365 applications School Dude and building control systems

  • Willingness to participate in the schools Faith Formation program for new employees
  • Experience in a school setting a plus
