Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Cole Engineering Center Tower Warren MI three times per week at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business

The Role

You will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials supplies machinery tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy sourcing/negotiations global/regional material budget execution and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.

What Youll Do

  • Responsible for maintaining sourcing pipeline benchmarking data strategy presentations global budget and on-time metrics

  • Adhere to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures

  • Sourcing and Contracting Activities that include but not limited to:
    o Sourcing event bid strategy & management
    o Bid analytics
    o Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components including Terms & Conditions SOR technical documentation
    o Leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment

  • Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services

  • Cooperate with legal to negotiate special contract terms

  • Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items

  • Support commercial budget activities

  • Support logistics supplier management initiatives including Strategic Supplier Engagement

  • Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution

  • Perform rate management activities including spot buys rate analysis and supplier requests

  • Participate in supplier KPI reviews

  • This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 2 years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing supply chain program/product management logistics or product development

    Demonstrates ability to execute with direction or support in the following competencies:

  • Data Judgement - Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions

    Informative Communication - Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience both effectively and timely

    Relationship Management - Develops and maintains constructive cooperative working relationships

    At a minimum has an emerging ability showcasing understanding of the process and willingness to learn and knowledge in the following competencies:

    Negotiation - engage in collaborative discussions to reach meaningful agreements

    Analytical Thinking - Consider various factors in decision making to determine solutions and their impacts

    Results Focus - Take charge without prompting seize opportunities and deliver on time

    Workload Management - Manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize by critical needs

    Ability to travel 5% Domestically

  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Logistics Finance Industrial Engineering or related field

  • Cost analysis or manufacturing experience

  • Automotive industry experience

  • Knowledge of materials management

  • Capable of interpreting market data

  • Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
