The Role and Your Mission:
As a Junior Configuration Engineer at Marsh McLennan you will be responsible for creating the business logic that drives our Darwin platform using the Darwin Configuration Language (DCL). Your work will span multiple configuration levels including system-wide country-specific organizational scheme-based and benefit templates. You will play a key role in standardizing and simplifying the implementation of client schemes globally.
We will count on you to:
- Have a comprehensive understanding of all processes and workflows in Configuration Engineering.
- Be knowledgeable about Darwins capabilities and limitations.
- Create Darwin-wide configurations based on clear specifications using DCL.
- Interpret and translate business requirements for benefit templates into technical requirements.
- Update and fix Darwin-wide configurations based on change requests and bugs.
- Adhere to DCL standards regarding naming and design of configuration files.
- Assist other Configuration Engineers and Darwin Support teams in debugging templates.
- Maintain an updated status for tasks using tools like JIRA and Confluence ensuring adherence to project deadlines and SLAs.
- Produce documentation that reflects the content and available options of released templates contributing to our knowledge base.
- Conduct medium complexity code and peer reviews.
- Create complex reports using DCL and intricate Reward Centre layouts.
- Identify areas for improvement and communicate them to the appropriate Subject Matter Experts.
Manage Your Activity:
- Consistently follow and provide feedback on processes and workflows.
- Accurately estimate tasks plan and delegate assignments among project members.
- Anticipate blockers and identify dependencies addressing them with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a good level of autonomy in making technical decisions and balancing priorities.
- Take ownership of small to medium-sized projects from end to end.
- Understand business needs and challenge requirements when necessary.
- Gather compile and process information from various departments and stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues within your direct responsibilities.
Build Relationships & Work Towards Developing Yourself:
- Follow up with colleagues who seek assistance and provide guidance.
- Identify skill gaps among colleagues and address them constructively.
- Provide honest feedback when requested about colleagues performance.
- Share opportunities for improvement and recognize achievements.
- Participate in planning and delivering training and enablement sessions.
- Stay aware of the backlog and proactively pick up the next piece of work.
- Potentially hire train and oversee staff within the department.
- Oversee scheduling assignments and daily tasks of team members.
- Develop expertise in a specific area of Configuration Engineering.
What You Need to Have:
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Romanian.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced ambiguous global environment.
- Strong prioritization skills to manage tasks effectively and meet objectives with high quality.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and teamwork skills.
- Basic programming knowledge and familiarity with programming algorithms.

- Experience with data serialization formats such as XML and JSON.
