Industrial Process Engineer
Location:Crawley Onsite
Hours:37 hours per week


As an Industrial Process Engineer (IPE) at Thales you will play a vital role in supporting our existing product lines and driving continuous improvement on the production floor.

You will focus on the later stages of the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) process ensuring successful transition and ongoing production of products while enhancing manufacturing processes and the work environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the industrialisation process particularly from MRL stages 6 to 8.
  • Influence and collaborate with the Industrial Engineering team to promote best practices and continuous process improvements.
  • Provide hands-on support to production teams to drive efficiency quality and compliance.
  • Lead and participate in improvement activities using Lean and InCIght methodologies.
  • Support MRL assessments and Production Readiness Reviews (PRR) and follow up on action items.
  • Configure and maintain ERP and MES systems to enable smooth manufacturing workflows for both in-house and supply chain items.
  • Apply PFMEA and risk analysis to identify and mitigate production risks.
  • Maintain 5S standards and support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities on the shop floor.
  • Manage Bill of Materials (BOMs) routings measurement instructions and non-conformance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with health safety environmental and quality standards (ISO IPC etc.).
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) through shopfloor systems.
  • Provide support for First Article Inspections (FAIs) and ongoing production challenges.


About the Team:
Youll be part of a dynamic Industrial Engineering department working alongside Industrial Process Engineers Senior Engineers Industrial Architects and Cost Engineers. Together we ensure new products move smoothly from bid and design phases into efficient cost-effective production guided by principles of Design for Manufacture and Design to Cost while considering industrial capabilities and supply chain factors.


The Person Were Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role ideally supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and production phases.
  • Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with a collaborative enthusiastic approach.
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset to work in a fast-paced evolving environment.
  • Committed to upholding health and safety standards and promoting a safe workplace.
