Job Description

Assabet Valley Regional Vocational School DistrictLong-Term Substitute School CounselorReports to: Director of Pupil Personnel Services Position Summary: The Long-Term Substitute School Counselor supports the academic career and personal-social development of students during the period of coverage. The counselor works as part of the Student Services team to implement the Massachusetts Model of School Counseling and contributes to the overall operation of the school through direct services consultation and Responsibilities:Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic career and personal-social issuesAssist students with course selection scheduling and fulfillment of graduation requirementsGuide students through the college application process and/or post-secondary planningSupport student attendance progress monitoring and interventions when necessaryCollaborate with teachers staff and families to address student needs and facilitate communication between home and schoolParticipate in TEAM meetings parent conferences and other student-centered meetingsDevelop implement and monitor 504 plans as assignedRefer students and families to appropriate community resources and collaborate with school-based support staffAssist new students with transition into Assabet Valley RVTHSMaintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with school and state policyContribute to department activities admissions efforts and other school-wide initiatives as directed
