POSITION SPECIFICS

The Assistant Director of Student Care and Advocacy for Off-Campus Student Support & Community Partnership will serve as part of the Student Care and Advocacy team and will work to further its mission of supporting students who face challenges during their college experience. Primarily the Assistant Director will assist students and families navigate the off-campus living environment serve as a liaison between the University and off-campus housing providers partner with a wide range of community stakeholders around basic needs security concerns and town-gown issues and ensure holistic case management for students in need of assistance with concerns falling within Student Care & Advocacys scope of service.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Specific duties include:

  • Serve as an integrated member of the Student Care and Advocacy team while acting as the primary contact and subject matter expert on off-campus living concerns.

  • Create and maintain resources to help students secure their basic needs while enrolled at Penn State including but not limited to off-campus housing.

  • Develop and foster positive relationships with local landlords and property managers.

  • Host housing resource fairs and a housing website that connects landlords with students.

  • Connect students with services to assist with informal dispute resolution & other grievances.

  • Advise student organizations and student governments interested in off-campus living issues.

  • Engage with students and student organizations to provide an organized outlet for student activism around tenant town-gown and other off-campus issues.

  • Serve as a collaborative resource across the University and in the communities within which our campuses are situated regarding off-campus student issues.

  • Coordinate Student Care and Advocacy outreach efforts including resource fairs tabling and presentations. Occasionally present on off-campus student support issues. Coordinate broader outreach and education efforts delivered collaboratively by the team to students families and community partners.

  • Lead innovative programming events and initiatives to support students moving and living off-campus across the spectrum of their off-campus experience.

  • Serve on relevant task forces search committees advisory groups and planning groups.

  • Provide holistic case management for students in need of assistance with concerns falling within Student Care & Advocacys scope of service.

  • Serve on the Student Affairs On-Call Rotation responding to crisis or emergency incidents after-hours and on weekends.

MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Student Advocacy Specialist - Advanced Professional this position requires: Bachelors Degree 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Student Advocacy Specialist - Senior Professional this position requires: Masters Degree 6 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position including all possible grades is $46400.00 - $74000.00.
