The Principal Lawyer will lead teams of Operational and Regulatory lawyers and will be directly responsible for delivering strategic legal work in these disciplines. The work in these areas include operational policing advice civil orders police officer misconduct inquests and a range of other connected areas in Police Law and Practice.
Working as part of the Joint Legal Services Senior Leadership Team you will operate at a strategic and operational level to deliver an exceptional legal service by identifying and managing Force strategic and reputational risks across numerous and diverse national and regionalwork streams and on highly sensitive matters.
Reporting to the Assistant Director the Principal Lawyer will manage direct and lead a credible professional and respected group of lawyers in a wide rangeof legal work.

Hours:The post holder will be required to work core service hours..
Location: Lloyd House Birmingham.
Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearancescrutiny prior to commencing their role this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
