Job Summary:
The Infusion Center Tech performs various duties to assist in the treatment and care of patients in the Intravenous Outpatient Department (IVOP). Assists in preparing patients for infusion therapy and during infusion therapy. Maintains equipment and supplies. Performs phlebotomy and runs CBC machine. Cross-trained as medical secretary for IVOP.

Essential Functions:
Treats all patients with courtesy dignity and respect.
Implements service recovery as needed to promote patient satisfaction.
Keeps patient informed of treatment or physician delays.
Assists in the orientation of new staff to the IVOP.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Completes all paperwork with accuracy and completeness.
Possesses the necessary computer skills to effectively document patient care.
Knows and demonstrates proper safety practices.
Follows universal precautions and aseptic technique in provision of patient care.
Uses proper lifting techniques.
Knows location of emergency equipment.
Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the workspace
Actively participates in project teams task forces and committee assignments as needed.
Exhibits positive interpersonal skills for co-workers with one another and patients.
Assists in preparing patients for infusion therapy.
Obtains and records patient vital signs.
Takes weights as indicated.
Enters ordered lab tests into computer and obtains labels.
Monitors vital signs during infusion per policy.
Recognizes and reports changes observed in condition or behavior of patients.
During an emergency obtains code cart takes vital signs and follows the direction of the nurse.
Checks daily: code cart; refrigerator thermometers; and blood pressure cuffs.
Routinely cleans thermometers and blood pressure cuffs.
Maintains cell counter according to standards.
Assists in ordering of supplies and putting them away.
Assists in blood collection and related duties.
Orients new staff to phlebotomy duties use of cell counter review of ordering labs under correct account and correct lab tube use.
Works with lab technician to obtain specimens on patients not requiring treatment banding transfusion patients and entering lab tests performed in the computer.
Keeps staff informed of problems or changes related to the Lab correct tube use and redraws.
Participates in quality assurance activities in the department and organization.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Able to assess and care for patients with special needs with respect to cultural ethical and religious differences and physical abilities
Knowledge of Patient Satisfaction Survey criteria and ability to deliver service in accordance with those expectations.
Ability to function as a positive team member as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Ability to read write and comprehend medical terminology
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Education Training and Experience Required:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)credentials through MBoN or Patient Care Tech or Phlebotomy certification
Current BLS/CPR certification
At least 1 year experience as a CNA PCT or Phlebotomist

Pay is based on experience skills and education. If position is part-time salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid if applicable.
Hourly range: $17.29 $25.60
Hours of operation: 8am-6pm Monday-Thursday. 8am - 4pm on Friday. 30-minute lunch break.
