Position Description
- The Harris County Clerks Election Department Outreach Division is responsible for effectively managing external relationships with community members and community stakeholders. By developing effective and inclusive outreach organizing mobilization and information sharing strategies we aim to improve civic engagement and empower communities by educating voters about elections and the voting process.
The Outreach Division is seeking a Voter Engagement Education Specialist that is a passionate coalition builder with a knack for communicating effectively with a variety of stakeholders. This individual will work collaboratively within a team to support the Director in the development and implementation of strategic goals for engaging educating and empowering the community through voting. The ideal candidate is resourceful has strong work ethic a can-do attitude a self-starter and is passionate about voting and conducting outreach in the community.Harris County is an Equal Opportunity Employer Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of community organizing or relations experience.
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university and
- Three (3) years of community organizing or relations experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to work well on a team to accomplish goals.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with clear deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to work with a diverse range of groups including all communities ethnicities religions and cultural and social groups/backgrounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
- Ability to meet goals and reporting requirements on a weekly basis under strict deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

- Public relations or community engagement experience.
- Must have a driver license and reliable transportation.
General Information
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
- Regular Full-time
- Monday Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
- Overtime hours are mandatory during election cycle.
- Must be able to work overtime.
- $32.66 Hourly
- Based on 26 Pay Periods
- Plus benefits
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Traveling with outreach packets repeatedly lift and carry 30 lb demo voting equipment unassisted ability to stand and walk for hours at a time and other necessary materials.
- This job operates in a professional office environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones copiers filing cabinets.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
