The Department of Labor and Workforce Development Division of Labor Standards and Safety is recruiting for an
Industrial Hygienist located in Anchorage!
No Cover Letter Required!




This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 19.


What You Will Be Doing:
Conducting worksite inspections across Alaska including in construction transportation/warehousing seafood processing and public sector workplaces to ensure compliance with state and federal occupational safety and health standards.

Applying technical knowledge of safety and health regulations accident prevention principles and inspection techniques to evaluate workplace hazards and enforce corrective actions.

Investigating industrial accidents including serious injuries and fatalities to determine causes and ensure appropriate follow-up.

Responding to public inquiries and employee complaints related to workplace safety and health compliance.

Assisting employers with understanding and implementing abatement measures to correct identified hazards.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
Our office is conveniently located at 1251 Muldoon Rd. You may travel frequently for short durations throughout the State of Alaska once released to perform independent inspections. Modes of transportation when traveling may include small planes boats or all-terrain vehicles.

  • Accident Investigation: Knowledge of guidelines regulations and procedures associated with an accident investigation including preservation of accident scene root cause analysis and evidence detection and handling.

  • Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative effort and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.

The State of Alaska (SOA) uses four levels of proficiency to measure and describe an applicants level of competence in applying certain behaviors knowledge skills and abilities to accomplish a specific task. Applicants must possess a valid drivers license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
