Job Summary

Proactively participates as a team member in support of the total post-anesthesia care process
Works collaboratively with the health care team to prepare the recovery room / PACU area according to requirements of patient physician orders and patient procedure.
Provides comfort and reassurance to patients
Demonstrates ongoing competencies with patient assessment and appropriate interventions when variances occur
Maintains patients privacy and dignity
Utilizes the nursing process to perform safe and individualized nursing care in the immediate post-anesthesia period
Administers medications per order of the physician
Accurately comprehends and interprets physician orders and direction
Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of patient care
Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation during post-anesthesia period
Monitors and reports any abnormal observed complications to anesthesia provider and physician
Documents patient-care records and other forms accurately legibly and in a timely manner following policies and procedures.
Develops a plan of care based on patient needs related to the procedure and type of anesthesia
Assess the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation for discharge
Reviews post-procedure instructions including medication reconciliation and follow-up physician appointment with patient and responsible adult
Determines and documents patient and responsible adult understanding of the discharge instructions and the indications of when to seek emergent care
Organizes time equipment supplies and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management
Assist and supervises patients attire change (as necessary)
Considers cost containment by using supplies economically and by managing efficient turnover time
Assists with supplies drugs and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability; maintains order and cleanliness or recovery room and PACU area
Transports patients as needed observing policies procedures and safety requirements
Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned
