Job Details
The Operations Supervisor supervises and assists in leading and managing the Gateway Operation teams including drivers dispatchers and operations personnel. The Supervisor will support either the morning or afternoon shift and manage approximately 10 team members.
Location: Onsite in Millbrae California
Shift/Hours: Monday-Friday with some weekends as needed by the business
6:00am 2:30pm PST Monday-Friday
12:00pm 8:30pm PST Monday-Friday
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise the day-to-day operations
Assign work to direct reports
Handle and document low-level personnel issues
Document and deliver staff performance feedback and performance reviews
Assist with staffing and scheduling to ensure optimal coverage on all shifts
Participate in interviews for new hires
Maintain confidentiality of employee records
Ensure a clean and safe work environment
Manage station inbound and outbound shipments and assign resources as needed
Monitor discrepancies by making sure appropriate notes are entered in the job
Ensure that all job instructions and packaging needs are followed
Monitor scheduling to ensure proper coverage at all times to handle workload
Use GPS tracking and ensure drivers are assigned to appropriate vehicles
Anticipate prioritize communicate and resolveproblems throughout the day
Manage employee training requirements and train staff on operational procedures
Comply with TSA screening of freight
Troubleshoot and manage problems through the corrective action process
Monitor shipment notes for shipments on hold or otherwise in the stations custody
Provide guidance to other staff members/offices with general questions about operations and packaging
Requirements:
Five (5) years relevant supervisory experience is preferred; completed degree is preferred but not required. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
Freight forwarding experience highly preferred
Logistics management background preferred
Ability to provide strong leadership for the department
Strong communication skills and ability to build professional relationships
Ability to maintain an approachable and professional demeanor in different situations
Excellent leadership skills including the ability to train coach and motivate others
Ability to multi-task
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
Desire to lead by example with strong work ethic and dependability
