Job Description

City Capital are currently representing one of the UKs fastest growing property finance lenders who are achieving record results in terms of lending volumes. This means that their loan portfolio management team is onboarding more new clients and loans than ever before.


As a result our client is expanding its portfolio function and require an experienced and knowledgeable bridging finance servicing/portfolio management expert to join the team at an exciting time.


The Company


Our client is a leading provider of specialist property finance who have been operating with great success in the market for c20 years. The lender has become renowned for their capacity to fund complex real estate requirements in simple and effective ways which has seen their success and loan book swell greatly in recent years.


Key to this has been product innovation and the expansion into new real estate markets. Today our client offers a range of solutions to support the needs of property developers and investors with the core of their business being bridging finance BTL development exit loans and commercial mortgages.


Looking ahead our client has further plans to expand their product set and market reach making this a truly exciting time to come on board.


The Department & Team


The portfolio management division is one of the largest in the business and incorporates a broad range of activity such as collections & recoveries compliance refinancing and analytics.


The hub of the department is driven by two portfolio management teams who inherit loans at the point of funding and are then expected to manage the loan (and borrower) towards healthy redemption.


Each team has a range of Portfolio Managers demonstrating different levels of seniority based on experience. These teams manage the day-to-day operation of loan servicing and management and ultimately ensure that clients and loans are serviced and returned on time and as per contract.


Our client requires a Senior Manager who will join and inherit their bridging finance portfolio management team covering bridging loans development exits and commercial lending.


This is a true player/manager role combining leadership with hands-on delivery.


Role Overview


As Senior Manager Bridging Portfolio Management you will immediately inherit a team of junior & senior loan portfolio specialists who are specifically focussed on the proactive and effective management of the bridging development exit and commercial loan books.


You will work closely with the Head of Portfolio Management on portfolio strategy with the Head of Completions to support new loans being onboarded into your portfolio and with the Heads of Recoveries Retentions Compliance and Legal where needed throughout the loan cycle.


You will ensure loans are onboarded effectively serviced efficiently and redeemed in line with contractual agreements. Alongside this you will guide and develop the team shaping loan strategies and implementing solutions where issues arise.


This role requires both technical knowledge and leadership ability with the gravitas to influence outcomes and the adaptability to manage a fast-paced and growing portfolio.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the onboarding of new loans into the funded loan book.
  • Act as a key point of contact for borrowers ensuring smooth lifecycle
  • Drive the monitoring & servicing of loans to ensure compliance with contract
  • Lead redemption strategies where facilities fall into arrears or face challenges
  • Support borrowers with refinancing and future debt requirements
  • Undertake site visits and borrower reviews where appropriate
  • Personally manage high-value or strategically important facilities as required

The ideal candidate for this role must have a strong track record of success in bridging finance portfolio management and is likely to be experienced across all property asset classes including commercial.

You will be a strong leader able to coach and develop junior members of the team and to lead senior members of the team to tackle difficult or complex scenarios. You will also be an excellent communicator in all aspects able to work with other senior managers internally on joined up projects whilst being confident in leading and guiding borrowers and external stakeholders on the required journey.

As this is a managerial role previous team leadership experience is preferred but not essential. This role is also open to Senior Portfolio Managers that may never have held official direct reports but could demonstrate strong leadership credentials at interview due to previous experience in a coaching and mentoring capacity.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experienced bridging finance portfolio management expert
  • Management experience preferred though can consider strong mentorship
  • Capable of devising and delivering loan management strategies
  • Highly collaborative and capable of working with other senior managers
  • A player/manager in approach happy to roll up sleeves wherever required
  • Strong credit knowledge and ability to influence redemption outcomes
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • First-class communication and negotiation skills
  • A natural coach able to improve new and existing staff regardless of experience
  • Ambition to progress long-term within a high-growth lender.

On Offer


Our client is ideally looking to pay up to c80k - 95k as a basic salary for the ideal individual relevant to experience. Salary will be complemented by access to our clients favourable bonus structure too which will significantly increase year on year earnings.

Due to the lenders continued plans for growth you will expect that the portfolio division will continue to grow in scale offering opportunities to step in to more senior roles as your impact on the business increases.


This role will be based in our clients fantastic central London offices.
