Job Summary:
The Print Room Manager is responsible for overseeing all print room operations ensuring the highest quality output for custom color coordination and production printing needs. This role involves managing a small team operating and maintaining industrial inkjet printing equipment and ensuring accurate color reproduction through advanced software tools. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong organizational and leadership skills to meet tight deadlines and maintain quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management: Oversee daily print room activities schedule production runs and coordinate workflow to meet production and coordination timelines.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate and maintain large-format and industrial inkjet printers (e.g. Durst Kodak) to ensure optimal performance.
- Color Management: Utilize advanced color coordination software to achieve precise color reproduction for flooring and accessory products.
- AI Integration: Leverage AI-assisted color coordination tools to enhance color-matching/selection accuracy and workflow efficiency.
- File Preparation & RIP Management: Work with RIP software (e.g. Caldera/Durst AVACADCAM) to prepare and optimize files for printing ensuring efficient and accurate output.
- Graphic Editing: Edit and prepare artwork in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for production needs.
- Quality Control: Implement rigorous QC checks for print output color accuracy and material compatibility.
- Team Leadership: Supervise print room staff provide training assign tasks and monitor performance.
- Inventory Management: Maintain ink media and consumables inventory; order supplies as needed.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving efficiency reducing waste and enhancing print quality.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to company safety procedures maintenance schedules and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a print production environment ideally as a Print Room Manager Supervisor or Lead Operator.
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop Illustrator and related graphic design tools.
- Strong knowledge of RIP software (Durst AVA CAD/CAM Caldera) and industrial inkjet printing workflows.
- Experience operating printers from manufacturers such as Durst Kodak HP Roland or similar.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted color coordination solutions and software.
- Understanding of color theory ICC profiles and digital color management principles.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lead a team manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Experience in the flooring home dcor or related manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of additional graphic production software and printing technologies.
- Prior experience implementing process improvements in a print production setting.
Work Environment
- On-site role in a production facility.
- Requires standing for extended periods occasional lifting of materials up to 50 lbs and working around printing machinery.
