The Gordon School is a racially diverse nursery through eighth grade all-gender independent school in East Providence RI. The curriculum is rooted in multicultural practice and social justice with an emphasis on developing intellectual leadership active imagination and a childs natural inquisitive nature. Students are challenged and inspired to be active workers toward their own education and teachers strive to develop meaningful relationships with each child and family. Gordon Schools after school program is seeking part-time staff to work with students ages 3-14. Gators (Nursery through fourth grade) and Young Adult Place (YAP fifth through eighth grade) are the core of the after school programs every day that the school building is open. Gators offers younger children the opportunity to play with their classmates in a fun safe supervised environment. The responsibilities of the Gator staff include creating and supervising activities games and projects for students in the same cohort; group management tracking attendance and inventory of supplies and communicating with families. The Gators program takes place both indoors and outdoors. Middle School students in YAP primarily participate in a supervised study hall working individually or in small groups. YAP staff assists with questions engages in activities and conversations with students and tracks attendance. YAP is mainly an indoor program but may utilize outdoor spaces as available. The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic responsible and flexible and have experience working with children. After school teacher hours are Monday through Friday from 2:00pm or 2:30pm to 5:30pm.
