The Art Department is seeking a temporary staff member to assist the Audio Video Technician with the management of equipment classroom support and student training. This role is essential in ensuring that audio video and lighting resources are effectively maintained and accessible to students and faculty.
Responsibilities:
Train students and teaching assistants on the proper use of audio video and lighting equipment as well as production techniques for video.
Conduct in-class demonstrations and provide ongoing technical support throughout the semester.
Oversee the check-out and return of equipment including managing reservations through the LendItems software.
Inspect and maintain equipment on a weekly basis; report malfunctions or missing items to the supervisor.
Support classroom operations by organizing supplies generating and posting schedules updating course management systems and monitoring studio use.
Supervisory Responsibility
With guidance from the current studio technician and faculty the temporary employee will help oversee a team of student teaching assistants. Responsibilities include training TAs in the equipment checkout process and operation of equipment coordinating their shifts and creating work schedules.
Knowledge and Skills Requirement
Minimum education required for this position is a Bachelors Degree or equivalent with between 1-2 years of experience.
Specialized Skills and/or Training
Comprehensive knowledge of lighting both in-studio and on location
Proficiency with a wide range of video and audio equipment and production processes
Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite for post-production work
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technicians faculty staff and students across the Williams community
Self-motivation and commitment to staying current with advances in electronic media
Working Conditions
The employee will be working in an equipment office in Spencer Studio Art Building. They will assist faculty and do demos in classrooms or the media lab. There will be occasional heavy lifting when setting up for demos and moving around audio and video equipment.
Physical Demands
Some heavy lifting required busy class schedules to navigate and stairs to climb on occasion.
