The Job:
The Planner supports the development and maintenance of the outbound shipping schedule wave planning assists with expediting high-priority orders and helps facilitate communication with customer service teams located outside the distribution center. This is a hands-on fast-paced position that works closely with the master planner and reports directly to the Transportation Planning Manager.
- Support the planning team and assist with communication between transportation operations and customer service.
- Prepare the outbound truckload shipping schedule for the following work day.
- Monitor on-time pickup performance of carriers and report issues to management.
- Work with the DC Operations team to help ensure orders are processed on time to meet the shipping schedule.
- Assist the DC Operations team in gathering information to estimate labor requirements for the shipping schedule.
- Coordinate with Customer Service Operations and transportation providers to help expedite high-priority orders as needed.
- Participate in process improvement activities as directed.
- Develop working knowledge of the Transportation Management System and Distribution Management System (DM Plus).
The Person:
- Bachelors Degree in Logistics Business Engineering or 2-3 years of progressive distribution planning related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in planning and scheduling (distribution experience is preferred but manufacturing experience is acceptable).
- Six Sigma experience a plus.
- APICS certification a plus.
- Must have strong analytical skills.
- Must have strong software skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills
