We encourage applications from women people of color people with disabilities veterans and other candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and with diverse experiences interested in this opportunity.About the PositionThis position holds functional authority over Area Supervisors and Team Supervisors in matters related to equipment inventory safety practices and equipment management.

Responsibilities include maintaining custodial equipment responding to emergency or special situations as needed and temporarily leading a diverse team of cleaning team leaders cleaning specialists and student custodial aides. The role coordinates the staging of high-value equipment to optimize productivity and collaborates with other supervisors to perform necessary repairs on custodial tools such as vacuum cleaners buffers burnishers wet vacs carpet extractors and other equipment within the Academic Custodial Services inventory.

Additional duties include conducting field inventory of equipment managing specialized high-production tools and providing the Work Control Center with accurate data for property accountability and repair cost tracking.

Required Qualifications
  • Intermittently perform all duties of a Team Cleaning Specialist especially during specialized cleaning situations.
  • Supervise stripping and refinishing floor crew.
  • Supervise all stripping of floors with suspected asbestos presence.
  • Supervise Custodian 2 when the employee performs repair equipment.
  • Monitor safety practices of assigned workers pertaining to custodial equipment. With the collaboration of departmental trainer verify that individuals have the skills necessary for safe efficient equipment operation.
  • Train new employees in proper equipment use.
  • Assist department manager in implementing a planned program of equipment evaluation and re-placements or additions.
  • Maintain proper accountability of high value custodial equipment. Assist with periodic inventory of all custodial equipment.
  • Develop and implement planned preventive maintenance programs schedules and activities to insure prolonged life usefulness and safety of equipment to minimize breakdowns or failures.
  • Receive and log all Academic Custodial Services custodial equipment needing repair. Maintain accurate records on equipment and repair history.
  • Repair custodial equipment to include replacing switches wiring motors bearings fans and pumps or coordinates repair with outside vendors.
  • Assign specific equipment in accordance with the needs of the department.
  • Mount towel toilet paper and soap dispensers when requested.
  • May serve as an incident supervisor for snow fire and water damage events.
  • Order distribute and monitor the use of supplies repair parts and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Work with supervisor to implement measures that increase morale teamwork and cooperation within the teams
  • Lock and unlock buildings as required.
  • Set up furniture for various functions.
  • Wash windows.
  • Use power equipment and hand tools.
  • Notify Facilities Management of needed repairs/maintenance.
  • For unescorted access into the Public Safety office area and for access to residence halls may be required to undergo a fingerprint check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing custodial duties in a commercial and/or institutional settings.
  • One year (or more) of experience in a team cleaning environment.
  • Formal training in water restoration.
  • Formal training in mold mitigation
