Job Description
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data and Analytics Engineering team in Berlin!
Babbels Data and Analytics Engineering (DAE) team is dedicated to empowering data-driven decision-making across the organization. We design build and maintain the data infrastructure and pipelines that enable high-quality analytics reporting and advanced data applications.
You will:
- Design build and optimize scalable data pipelines and integrations using Databricks (Python) dbt and related tools.
- Develop and maintain analytics workflows and dashboards in Tableau and Databricks Notebooks.
- Support the migration and management of data across platforms including Snowflake and Databricks with a focus on reliability and scalability.
- Integrate data from a variety of sources leveraging tools like Fivetran for seamless data movement.
- Collaborate with analytics product and engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Maintain and improve AWS-based data infrastructure ensuring security governance and cost-effectiveness.
- Participate in projects that may involve machine learning engineering and MLOps practices supporting the development and deployment of intelligent data solutions.
- Contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
You have:
- Practical experience with Databricks (Python) Snowflake dbt and AWS.
- Familiarity with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform including its tools for unified analytics data management and AI/ML workflows and ETL/ELT best practices.
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration and integration tools (e.g. Fivetran).
- Proficiency in Python SQL and PySpark is required.
- Understanding of data governance security and compliance in cloud environments.
- Excellent communication skills in English both written and spoken.
- Bonus: Experience or interest in MLOps machine learning engineering or supporting ML-driven applications.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow).
- Hands-on experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) including preparing data for RAG building RAG architectures working with embeddings vectors and vector databases (such as those used for semantic search or LLM context retrieval)
- Exposure to additional business intelligence or reporting tools.
- Passion for fostering a data-driven culture and collaborating across teams.
Please note that our companys operating language is English so you will need to be able to work in English.
